Our Research

At Sellick Psychology, we are committed to advancing the field of psychological science through ongoing research and evidence-based practice. Our team actively engages in clinical studies, outcome research and professional collaborations to ensure the highest standard of care for our clients.

Danielle Sellick and Dr Chris Holt are investigating a pioneering EMDR therapy protocol for grief, adapted from the Resource Development Installation protocol by Korn and Leeds (2002). The Love Lives On  protocol aims to facilitate a healthy emotional reconnection to lost loved ones through accessing loving memories and strengthening adaptive memory networks, which can help to foster post-traumatic growth. Their work has been published in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research. Featured in August 2025 on the podcast EMDR: The Science Behind the Therapy,  Andrew Leeds described the protocol as “a gentle and powerful therapeutic approach for people navigating grief.” Andrew also commented:

What makes this approach innovative, is that it allows space for continued connection. It helps clients recognise that love doesn't have to end when a life ends. Instead of pushing people to let go, it invites them to integrate the presence of the deceased into their ongoing story in a way that feels authentic, secure, and life-affirming.”

In a world that often urges people to move on, this approach offers something much more compassionate, a way to keep love alive, even after loss. And for many clients that’s exactly what allows grief to soften and healing to begin.”

Stay tuned, more research and exciting developments are underway.
