Danielle Sellick, MAPS, FCCLP

Principal Clinical Psychologist

Danielle has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years, including for the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, beyondblue and in private practice. Danielle initially trained as a lawyer and understands the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. She has held various board positions including as a board Director of EMDRAA. She is currently a member of the Friends of MITHRA board, an Australian charity raising funds for children with disabilities in Chennai, India. Danielle is also a children’s book author, publishing Kind to Me in 2019 (Balboa Press) and Captain Courageous in 2021 (Austin Macauley).

Danielle has a warm, collaborative and grounded approach. She helps adults experiencing anxiety and panic, depression, trauma, relationship, workplace and parenting concerns, grief and loss, and more. She also provides clinical supervision and consultation as an EMDRAA Accredited Consultant.

Danielle uses EMDR therapy, Schema therapy,  Ego State Therapy, CBT and other evidence-based therapies. Her holistic approach assists clients to kick start their own healing, while learning something genuine about themselves along the way. She also recently completed training in the Safe and Sound Protocol.

Miriam Taouk

Psychologist

Miriam Taouk is a registered psychologist who combines evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Ego State Therapy, and Schema Therapy, with a holistic approach to treat the cause of emotional and psychological concerns. Miriam’s approach is tailored to suit each client’s needs to reach their highest personal goals. Miriam is passionate, focused, and maintains a strong belief in well-being for a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

Miriam has experience in both government and private sectors. She works closely with clients to treat a broad range of psychological issues including anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, grief and loss, trauma, and relationships. She also has a special interest in working with eating disorders and attention-deficit hyperactivity. She has extensive experience in critical debriefing, psychometric testing, and preparing psychological reports.

Miriam provides a confidential, sensitive and informative counseling service. Through discussion of personal experiences, skill development and enlightenment, therapy is designed to enrich client’s lives and empower them to overcome the obstacles which have led them to seek help.

Renae Vanderheyden

Psychologist

Renae is a registered psychologist with extensive experience across both corporate and private practice settings. She combines a range of evidenced-based therapeutic frameworks including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); EMDR Therapy; Schema Therapy; Ego State Therapy; Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Renae works collaboratively with clients across a range of presenting issues including – trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic, phobia, chronic stress, addiction, grief, relationships and parenting, workplace/career issues, and couple’s therapy. Renae takes a client-centred approach and works with the individual towards developing personal insight by better understanding the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Renae is committed to providing a comfortable, relaxed environment for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. Renae works closely with clients to identify their counselling goals whilst exploring opportunities for skill development and personal growth, further developing a sense of empowerment, and facilitating the process towards positive life changes and emotional well-being.

Vicki Ashton

Clinical Psychologist
BA (Psych), BCom, Postgrad Dip Psych, M Psych (Clinical)

Vicki is a clinical psychologist who will work with you to understand your concerns and support you through their management. She has 15 years experience working  with children, parents, young people and adults experiencing emotional and relational problems.

Vicki has had the privilege of working with people in a diverse range of settings including community health, education, private practice and primary care. Vicki studied at the University of Melbourne, Monash University and Victoria University, and practices evidence-based therapies.

She has an interest in EMDR therapy and will be undertaking her training in October 2022.

Eman Shehata

Psychologist
BSc (Hons), M Psych Clinical

Eman is a Psychologist and Behaviour Support Practitioner. Her background working in both clinical and forensic settings has given her a highly adaptable and holistic approach towards making real positive emotion and behaviour changes. She has completed level 2 training in EMDR.

Eman enjoys collaborating with her clients to tailor individualised treatment plans whilst utilising a variety of therapeutic techniques and evidence based models. These include, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR Therapy, Transdiagnostic Therapy, Mindfulness based interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and more.

She is dedicated to providing a warm and non-judgemental space for her clients to express themselves and has a keen interest in supporting people struggling to manage behaviour concerns, trauma/PTSD, addictions, anger, shame, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship issues and parenting. Eman works with children, adolescents and adults.

Dr Christopher Holt

Provisional Psychologist
BSocSc (Hons), PhD

Chris completed his Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology and Family Studies; Hons) and Doctor of Philosophy at Australian Catholic University in 2013. He has been an academic since 2017 and currently works as a senior lecturer at the ACAP University College, where he teaches into the undergraduate and graduate psychology programs. He has been involved in research evaluating cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) interventions to treat perinatal depression and anxiety and also tracking neurodevelopmental outcomes of children born premature. His current research interest focuses on the application of positive psychological strategies to improve mental health and well-being.

Chris’s work utilises a range of evidence-based psychological treatments, including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, brief solution focused therapy, EMDR Therapy and positive psychology – strengths and values/recovery-oriented therapy. He believes in the importance of authentic connections. His work focuses on understanding the links between people’s thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, and providing opportunities for clients to identify and nurture their existing strengths and build new skills to manage current issues and enhance their well-being.

Alexis Mentzing

Provisional Psychologist
BPsychSci (Hons), BCrim

Alexis is a provisional psychologist who has been a member of the Sellick Psychology team since 2023. She completed her double Bachelors Degree of Psychological Science and Criminology, as well as a Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science at the ACAP University College. In 2023 Alexis completed her Honours degree at the Institute for Social Neuroscience (ISN) where she is currently completing her Masters of Clinical Psychology.

She brings with her experience from her background in support work and positive behaviour support. She understands the importance of a holistic approach to client care, recognising that each individual requires tailored support.

Alexis works with children, adolescents and adults, with a variety of presentations. She integrates evidence-based treatment methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to create effective and compassionate care plans. Alexis will be undertaking further training in 2025 to expand her knowledge on various evidence-based treatments.

Alexis values the importance of client collaboration and strives to build strong, trusting relationships with those she works with. She takes a warm, empathetic, and client-centred approach to treatment, ensuring that each client feels heard, supported, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

Andrea King

Client Services Manager

Andrea has extensive administration experience in the field of psychology. She has a passion for helping others and an understanding of the complexities of mental health. Andrea is dedicated to creating a supportive and welcoming environment for our clients where they can feel comfortable and confident in seeking help. With exceptional organisational skills and a vast knowledge of Medicare, Andrea will support you on your therapeutic journey.
